Overview[]

Rocky is Boy's younger, 6 year old brother. Boy and Rocky's mother died while giving birth to Rocky, which Rocky feels responsible for. Their father, Alamein, was not present when Rocky was born and when their mother died, so they were raised by their Nan along with their cousins. Rocky has a quiet disposition and is seen as weird or different - repeatedly called "egg" (stupid) by Boy. Rocky also believes that he has superpowers, and thinks that he killed his mother with them, something that Boy seems to have said in the past. Rocky is interested in art, and has decorated his mother's grave, which he spends a lot of time at.

He lives in a small house with his brother (Boy), his five cousins (Kelly, Che, Hucks, Kiko, and Miria), and his Nan. There is also Boy's pet goat called Leaf who lives outside.

During the Film[]

During the film Rocky befriends a strange but kind man, known only as 'Weirdo'. Although Boy throws rocks at Weirdo and tells Rocky to do the same, he doesn't. Instead he chooses to talk to Weirdo, and they get along. Weirdo does not make fun of Rocky when he says he has superpowers, instead suggesting that Rocky use his powers for good, like comic-book superheroes.

Throughout the film Rocky does not seem as interested in pleasing/helping his dad the way Boy is, though it is still obvious that he wants to get to know him and spend time with him. Alamein notices he is different, asking Boy "What's wrong with him?", but Boy just shrugs. Boy seems embarrassed by Rocky at times, getting frustrated with him and calling him an egg, especially when around their dad. Alamein does not act harshly towards Rocky, but he does seem to spend more time with Boy.

When Alamein brings Boy and Rocky along to sit in the car while he sells the marijuana they harvested, Boy is annoyed, telling Rocky he shouldn't be here because he is a baby. Rocky tells him that "he's my dad too" and that he "just wants to get to know him".

After Alamein trashes the house in a rage, Rocky comes into the garage on roller-skates, holding a sparkler, both of which his dad bought as presents. He rolls up to his dad and places his hand on his head while the sparkler dies down. He tells Alamein "sorry for what I did to mum", because Rocky believes he killed her when he was born. Alamein appears confused then sad, he pulls Rocky close and looks as if he is about to say something, but Boy walks in, and thinking Alamein is trying to hurt Rocky, yells at his dad and take Rocky home.

The next morning when Alamein is missing, Boy tells Rocky that Alamein has left to train as a Samurai in Japan. Later, when they find Alamein at their mother's grave, Rocky asks if he had a good time in Japan, which makes Boy laugh.
