Taika Waititi (Taika Cohen) is a New Zealand film director, writer, actor and comedian, He was born in 1975 in the Raukokore region of the East Coast, and is of Māori and European-Jewish descent. Taika Waititi has two daughters with his wife Chelsea Winstanley

Shortfilm Two Cars, One Night (2004) was his first debut as a film director. His feature films Eagle vs. Shark (2007), Boy (2010) and Hunt for the Wilderpeople (2016) have each been the top-grossing New Zealand films. He also co-directed the horror comedy film What We Do in the Shadows (2014) with Jemaine Clement, which brought him further critical acclaim and recognition. Waititi later with big success directed the Marvel Cinematic Universe superhero film Thor: Ragnarok (2017) and he became the New Zealander of the year in 2017. Taika is also working on an upcoming feature Jojo Rabbit.

Taika Waititi is known for his distinct style of cinema and brilliant sense of humor, he often focuses on father figures and appears in his own movies.
